an alphabet
an alphabet is an ongoing series of works consisting of letterpress prints, drawings, and paintings structured around the sequence of the alphabet. Each piece is a kind of visual and verbal portrait of a word. Drawing on principals of concrete poetry, the letters are arranged unconventionally on the page allowing for multiple readings. Within each piece, different components function individually but also interact with and activate adjacent pieces to form a network of associations and meanings.
